WEST media art space
Program 1: Breaking Control

Jill Scott, Bryden Williams and Nina Ross feature in the first program to launch the WEST media art space, titled ‘Breaking Control’. This program is created by MAP and curated by Nikki Walkerden to engage audiences in screen and sound works from local, national and international artists.

Breaking Control’ guides us through the corporeal actions of taping, pulling, tying, holding, ripping, breathing, rolling and exchange. Within each moving image work the artist appears, breaking control of and with their bodies through performances and site-specific intervention (Bryden Williams).

By watching we enter the time and space of these actions, moving through a shared presence with the artist on screen, we are also challenged to participate.
