modern art projects

We are pleased to announce that we have Fiona Davies in Residence at the WEST project space this week! If you cant come along to the artist discussion mentioned above Fiona would like to invite people in for discussion with any other time between Saturday 28 Feb and Sunday 01 March  11-4pm.

All installation artists face the problem of  how to trial a work prior to the final crunch date of installation. This residency at West allows Fiona Davies both to trial and to resolve  the work Blood on Silk: Price taker, price maker, a work to be included in Cementa -15, April  9th to 12th 2015, a town wide event at Kandos NSW. Davies work addresses the manner in which the market works for a person producing and selling their own blood, blood products  or body organs and the similarities with the markets for agricultural production.  In this context price takers are those whose market activities have limited effect on the market price they receive.

Fiona Davies is a visual artist based in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney. Her practice is primarily installation based, utilising object, sound, and video focusing on the ideas around medicalised death. She has exhibited both nationally and internationally and has undertaken artist residencies to support the development of those exhibitions.

See a Video of Fiona talk about the development of the work here.
