Nikki Walkerden is a screen-based performance artist and filmmaker whose interdisciplinary practice explores juxtaposing relationships between structures, the body, landscapes and the unknown. Investigating extreme states of the psyche, works expose threshold connections. They are concerned with the processes of marking, movement, erosion and erasure involved in sensory and mechanical recording and performance.
Current 16mm film and digital moving image works reveal connections between mind, body, materiality and space. These works gather textural histories, integrating footage recorded by Walkerden and found footage to create an anachronistic non-linearity informed by present and past climates.
