MAPBM Presents: Broken Data - a Glitch Art Seminar with Naomi Oliver
For the first in our seminar series for 2026, MAPBM is very pleased to present Broken Data, a Glitch Art Seminar with Naomi Oliver, from 6:00 to 8:00pm on Wednesday 20 May 2026 at RoseyRavelston Books, 1 Badgery Crescent Lawson.
"Broken Data": A seminar exploring glitch art as both an aesthetic and a way of thinking, drawing on broken files, obsolete media, and digital errors as creative material. It traces how technology’s failures can reveal unexpected, uncanny beauty.
Naomi Oliver has a multimedia practice that experiments with video, glitch and sound. Her work investigates chance outcomes in converging technologies and the intentional creation of image/sound distortion through various means. She achieved a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Hons) at Western Sydney University in 2003, and has undertaken a number of artist residencies. Her most recent solo exhibition, SHIFT, was held at Artereal Gallery Sydney in November 2023. In 2020, her work achieved 'Highly Commended' in the Fisher's Ghost Art Award at Campbelltown Arts Centre, and she was a finalist in the 2024 UK Lumen Prize.
Tickets cost only $6:00 and are available from https://events.humanitix.com/mapbmbrokendata. This includes light refreshments and a donation towards a free drink.
